07—13 Clocks by James Thurber

An intriguing fable from the pen of James Thurber. The evil Duke has trapped his beautiful niece, Saralinda, in his castle and has killed time. The 13 castle clocks are all stopped at five to five. Whenever potential suitors show up he either kills them or sets them on quests which are impossible to complete. When Zorn of Zorna shows up the evil Duke sends him on a quest to bring back 1000 precious stones in 90 hours. With the help of the Golux, a confused, but wise, mystical creature, Zorn sets out on his quest.

"I can do a score of things that can't be done," the Golux said. "I can find a thing I cannot see and see a thing I cannot find. The first is time, the second is a spot before my eyes. I can feel a thing I cannot touch and touch a thing I cannot feel. The first is sad and sorry, the second is your heart." --13 Clocks by James Thurber (page 65).

An intriguing story out of the delicious mind and pen of James Thurber.
