Sal Russo is found dead of a morphine overdose in his apartment. The coroner cannot determine if he was murdered or committed suicide. The ADA has a grudge against Russo's oldest son, Graham, and charges him with murder. Dismas Hardy believes Graham is innocent and agrees to defend him. The jury finds Graham innocent and after the trial Hardy keeps looking for Sal's killer.
