04—Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

Ghosts, those that live in our minds and those non-corporeal, ethereal creatures of the mind; twins (two sets); good & evil; love & hate; and strength of character & weakness of heart and mind are the elements of Audrey Niffenegger's latest novel, "Her Fearful Symmetry." While for me, this wasn't the "I'm going to sit up all night and read the book because I want to know what happens" story that was her first novel, The Time Traveller's Wife, this book has an engaging story, an intriguing plot, and an omigod denouement.

The story centers around 21 year old twins Valentina and Julia who live in Chicago with their British mother (Edie) and father. Their mother's twin sister Elspeth still lives in England and the two have been estranged since Julia and Valentina were infants. Elspeth dies and wills her 2nd floor apartment to the twins. They go to London to live and the story revolves around the girls, Elspeth's lover Robert (who lives on the 1st floor), Martin who is severely OCD and who lives on the 3rd floor, and Elspeth's ghost who inhabits her apartment.

Niffenegger leads us on a ghostly adventure to a satisfactory ending.
