Wealthy Paul Hanover and his young girlfriend, Missy D'Amien are found shot in Hanover's burned out home. The bodies are unrecognizable. Paul's daughter-in-law, Katherine Hanover, is charged with the murder by Detective Dan Cuneo. But assistant Chief of Police Abe Glitsky and his good friend and Katherine's lawyer Dismas Hardy believe otherwise and Glitsky mounts his own investigation.
